 Trivia

The 1918 flu pandemic was intensified by WWI. Troop concentrations provided unprecidented breeding grounds, combined with transport opportunities never before possible, as troops went home on leaves, and then traveled all over the world. Wartime censorship multiplied the death toll by keeping most of the world ignorant of the situation. The pandemic surged after the troops returned home and people came out of isolation to celebrate in the streets. This precipitated the 2nd of the flu's three waves and it was the deadliest.
