Myths: "Witches were burned at stake in Salem". The Salem witch trials of 1692 led to the arrests of 150 people, of whom 31 were tried and 20 were executed. Six of the 31 condemned "witches" were men. 30 were hung and one was crushed to death under heavy stones.
